Art Projects By My Brother

Hello, everyone!!! How are you all?? Been crafting?? I have been super busy!!! Just finished a major project  for my DT last weekend. Do stay tune for updates on this big project next month end.

In the meantime, I'm going to share some projects that I guided my brother, Austin to do for his Polytechnic design assignments. Over the past 2 days, I gave him a "crash course" on scrapbooking and mixed media art. Its fun and tiring!! ha ha.. Oh, by the way, all the pictures below are taken by my brother.

Here's the 5 projects that he had done, according to his theme of "vintage and/or retro":

1) "Journey" Layout

He wanted to make a layout without photo to illustrate journey. Well, the journey need not be to London (this is just an example). He always wanted to go travel and study overseas. Hence the twine is twined around the word, "Journey"!! The Singapore and London Silhouette is cut using Silhouette Cameo.

2) "Splash" Layout

Love this photo that He took for his photography project (I think). He saw a small boy playing with water and he took a few shots of him. Love the angle of this photo.

3) "Key" Bookmark (I forgot what he named this piece)

He wanted to make the inverted key as the focus. The frame is die-cut using Sizzix die. Note the crackle effect of the Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint in the second picture.

4) "Camera" Necklace

Don't you just love this camera!!! I love it. I might make one for myself. Ha ha....

5) "Peonies" Canvas

This is my favourite of all the projects that my brother made. I think he feels the same too.. I admire his choice of bright retro colours. Lovely!!! Hmm... I think I have made a mixed media artist out of him!! Ha ha.. Loved the texture of the fiber paste and glass bead gel.

After two days of guidance and a busy past week, I wanted to paint just for fun!!!!! So miss my painting and my art journalling!!! Hope I can squeeze in time to art journal and create my own version of the Peonies Canvas. Think I would go for other colors!!! Ha ha..

Well, that's all for today. Do come back on Friday for the Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge. See you.

Thanks for dropping by.

My Little Shoebox Muse Cardstock Alphabet Sticker Week

Hello again!! Today, My Little Shoebox is having the last day of our week long Muse Cardstock Sticker Promotion. As mentioned in my earlier post, Muse Cardstock Alphabet Stickers are the newest stickers roll out by My Little Shoebox. I love the yummy patterns on the alpha stickers. And they also coordinate with the new Summer CHA paper collections.

For this promotion, I made the following project:
"Bottle Caps" Signs

I bought these Maya Road bottle caps for some time but haven't done anything on them. So when I got the Muse Cardstock Alpha Stickers on hand, I thought of this perfect use for them. I used the alpha stickers on the background, without adding any paper at all. I layered 2 different alpha stickers, pop up the cloud sticker  with foam tape. Also pop up the "c" and "d" with foam tape (a delicate job since the alpha stickers are quite thin) and use stickles on them to make them shine. Then I applied a thick coat of glossy accent on the background alpha stickers, leaving the cloud sticker out so as to seal them in and create the glossy look and also to create the look of the clouds floating on them. I love the cardstock stickers and use the owl, deer, cloud, kite on the edge of the bottle caps (below I create layers of foam tape to secure them to the base of the bottle cap.

Here's a closer look at them:

This "C" bottle cap is made for my daughter, Celine. She loves pink, hence the pink C and she loves to read, hence the wording cloud sticker. Well, as for the owl, its simply too cute and my girl love cute stuff, like me!!!

This "D" bottle cap is made for my son, Dominic. I used the deer sticker and the raindrop cloud sticker because he got big tear drop eyes (my sister call it precious moment figurine eyes) like this adorable deer. Plus he's very "bouncy", like a deer too. Ha ha..

Well, guess I used these stickers in sync with their characteristics?? hmmm.... maybe... but I really love the result. Not sure how I'm going to use the bottle caps now. Maybe will do a wood signage (C and D wood characters that I bought afew years back but also haven't do) for their rooms. In the meantime, they sit prettily in my new craft corner!!!! What a pretty way to "beautify" my new space!! Yippee!!

Hope you had fun going through this post with me. Do hop over to My Little Shoebox to see the projects my fellow team mates had made for the past days. Have lots of fun "grabbing" these new Muse Cardstock Alphabet Stickers and making pretty and fun projects with them.

Fabulous Friday Challenge - Twines/Ribbons

Hello, my friends!! Its time for Fabulous Friday at Frosted Designs again. This week, we are inviting you to use twines/ribbons for your projects. Its so fun to challenge myself to use twines in different ways.

Here's what I do for this challenge:
"Be Present" mixed media canvas

For this small canvas (4 by 4 inches), I used Prima paper for the background and texture paste with acrylic paint over Prima's latest mask. Then I added some rub-ons and stamped images and some acrylic paints.

In my project, I used twines from Timeless Twines to crochet a rose. Thanks so much to my friend, Karen who taught me how to crochet. And also in getting this delicious twine. I also used twines from The Twinery to twine them around the canvas. Love all these yummy twines!!!

Well, I hope you love my project. Do hop over to Frosted Designs to join in the challenge and see what our design team has come up with. Thanks for visiting. Have a fun weekend.

Fabulous Friday Challenge - Color Challenge

Hello, friends!!! Its Fabulous Friday again!! This week, Frosted Designs are having a colour challenge.

We challenge you to use the above colours for your projects. And here's what I have created:

"Lovely, Beautiful, Darling" Layout

I used Prima and My Mind's Eye papers. Love the prints on the Prima paper. I cut out the hexagons from My Mind's Eye paper and popped them up using chipboard to create a little dimension. Then I mixed fiber paste and glass bead gel to make the hexagons too. Love to use different mediums!!!! I also sprayed some glimmer mists. Not sure if you notice, the photo mat is also a pocket for the 2 handmade tags.

Love to incorporate the doily pattern behind the hexagon for the journalling.

Here you can see the texture of the fiber paste and glass bead gel mixture.

After removing the tags from the pocket, you can see the masked/misted hexagon background. Love this colour combo. Hope you all didn't get sick of seeing the almost same colour combo that I always use. ha ha...

I scrap lifted this tag design from Pink Paislee ones. Again, I paste down the hexagon cut-outs to chipboard to add dimension. And I super love this new butterfly stamp that I got from my dear friend. Its so pretty!!!! I added washi tapes too. Washi tape is the latest craze!!!

I hope you enjoy my project!! Now time for you to have fun!!! Submit your project to Frosted Designs now!!! This week's sponsor is Easy Canvas Prints. Do head on over to their website to see the amazing photo canvas that they created. You can also visit Easy Canvas Prints' facebook to view some examples of their works.

Well,I do hope you join in the fun with us. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have fun!!

Big "Move" of Crafting Space

Hi, everyone!!! Been so busy this week!!! No time for crafting too!!! I'm moving my craft space from my temporary study room to my master bedroom!!! And that means downsizing!!!!! Ha ha.... If you all still remember my messy crafting room., that means me got alot of reorganising to do!!! A really major task!!! Been packing, throwing stuff, reorganising since last Saturday till now. Still got tons to do!!!! So tired!!! So have not been cooking for past few days till today!!! Phew!!!

Here's some pictures of my old messy crafting room while shifting in progress:
Very very very messy, right!!! Sigh!!! Look forward to a clean room!!!

Stuff on the floor, everywhere, waiting for me to sort out!!!

Now that I'm shifting, where to place all these finished projects??? No idea yet. ha ha.. Only managed to shift some over.

In the midst of shifting, found at least 2 boxes of stuff to destash or give away!!!! And I expect lots more to be added in. I got stuff as long as from 7 years ago. Oh my!!

And here's my new crafting corner with new IKEA furnitures in my master bedroom.
Love the white furnitures!!! Initially wanted to get birch and white combo. But only white furnitures are cheaper in IKEA. So in an effort to save cost to buy other storage boxes, got to go for all white. But I love them!!!!! And now can see the pale blue walls of my room!!! Before, it was also full of "rubbish"!!!! Confirmed one thing about me, I'm a rubbish collector!!! Ha ha ha ha.......

My new crafting space!!!! But still got tons of stuff haven't bring over. Spent the whole day yesterday taking out all the embellishments and flowers from original packagings and storing them in compartment boxes. Boy, I saved alot of space doing this!!!! Learnt alot from my friend, Elaine. She's the one who strongly encouraged and motivated me to reorganise my craft space!!! Thanks so muchie, Dear Elaine!!!!

Finally my die-cut machines got a "parking" space!!!! :P Hope it will stay clean as now!!! Fingers crossed!!

Oh wait, think I left out one old bookshelf at the other corner. I forgot to take picture of that. Ha ha.. Anyway, I will share again about my new craft space when everything is organised and clean again!!!! Now still in progress!!!! Way too many stuff over at old room waiting to come over!!!! This is like an upgrade for  them. Ha ha... Upgrade from HDB (housing flats) to condominium!!! Ha ha....

The most happy thing about shifting over to my master bedroom is: Finally, I can scrapbook in an AIR-CONDITIONED room!!!!! Ha ha ha.... yeah!!!!! No need to endure the afternoon heat!!! Good for my migraine but bad for my pocket!!! :P

Well, thats all for now!! Will try my very best to clean up both rooms and update here. May God grant me lots of wisdom and strength in this shifting process.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
